So long and thanks for all the fish!

On February 25, 2008 we bid a fond farewell to Mr. Fugi. Mr. Fugi lived a full life and passed on at the ripe old age of 15. The last few years of Mr.Fugi's life were spent in a semi-retired manner, primarily driving around town. We remember Mr. Fugi and all the fun times we had with great fondness and miss him daily. (Esecially on Sunday's when Ted has to go to church early for meetings and then come home to get us.) Goodbye Mr. Fugi you were loved and we will miss you!

Here is what happened (for those who don't already know). Ted was driving in the right lane of a two lane road through town. The right lane was closed ahead due to construction. The left lane traffic was stopped (it was first thing in the morning and everyone was going to work) Ted was going to turn right on a side-street before the merge of the two lanes. 2-3 blocks prior to Ted's desired right turn, someone in the stopped left lane waved a motorist through the stopped traffic. This motorist didn't pause to check to make sure the right lane was clear before proceeding to cross it, and promptly drove in front of Ted. Ted hit him square in the side. The airbag in Mr. Fugi worked as it should and went off. Ted is having some residual backpain and has been in contact with a dr. since the accident. He is currently attending physical therapy for the pain in his back. Otherwise, he is fine (except poor, Mr.Fugi who was too old to be repaired and the toolbox that was in trunk. I guess the impact was too much for it to handle.). Ted was the only one in the car. We are grateful that he (and the other driver) were not seriously injured.

Below you will find some pictures that we took when we went to retrieve our belongings from Mr.Fugi.

(I know this happened a long time ago, but I'm catching up on past blogs, so my blog reader shows "0 Unread") Anyway . . .
You think you know a person and then you read their blog! I had no idea this happened. And while I'm commenting, I may as well get on my soapbox and say that the motorist who had stopped to let the turning car through was trying to be polite but instead created a dangerous situation. So, learn from this person's mistake, and never do that!
